At the same time, the project also deals with the situation when collective and individual memory intertwine, influence and co-constitute each other.<\/p><p>The project is created as a PhD. research of Diana Kn\u011b\u017e\u00ednkov\u00e1 at Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyn\u011b University in \u00dast\u00ed nad Labem in the Czech family member. The exhibition presents works of the Latvian artist El\u012bna V\u012btola, who, in recent years, has been untangling the life and legacy of her relative while also using it as a source of inspiration for her own art practice. As she knew he was as well an artist and disappeared in the Second World War. However, while V\u012btola was looking for traces of his later life, she unmasked the truth.<\/p><p>Through this exhibition project, we are exploring how to use, exhibit, and talk about artworks inspired by the person who had been uncovered, and overall, how to personally deal with such a discovery. The researched authors use collective memory as a basis for their artistic practice and at the same time examine personal memory, their mutual conflicts, and the related theme of identity.<\/p><p>The research focuses on two approaches (research theses) that fundamentally influence the narratives of collective memory: \u201cFrom the general to the personal\u201d and \u201cFrom the individual to the collective\u201d. These two strategies are used within the artworks of the selected authors and tell about the clash of collective and personal memory present in their artistic practice, where we can find a fragile
