Generated truth: when a lie is more convincing than reality

lecture with discussion let by Jiří Philippe Janda

Emil Filla Gallery, Ústí nad Labem

8. 10. 2025 6 pm–8 pm

Every era creates its own truth. Ours is no longer a reflection of reality, but a generated version of it – created by algorithms, filters and artificial intelligence. The lecture will focus on how our trust in images is changing and what hyperreality means, in which illusion seems more real than reality. Using examples from artistic practice and everyday experience, we will ask: what does “truth” actually mean today? And do we even want to know it?

The lecture will be in Czech language and is a part of the public program of the Double Truth: Reveal exhibition.

Jiří Philippe Janda is a visual artist, architect and researcher in the field of generative art. In his work, he connects artificial intelligence with art and focuses on building immersive worlds and digital ecosystems, where technology and nature are interconnected and reality and hyperreality are interconnected. Using AI, video and spatial interventions, he creates narrative structures that reflect current anxieties and speculative visions of the future. He is the author of the award-winning video clip Class Reunion, which won the main prize at the Bali International AI Film Festival in 2025 and has been successful at film and art festivals around the world.
