The evening of short Latvian films will present the film and video work of four Latvian artists of the millennial generation – Ieva Balode, Vika Eksta, Diāna Tamane and Krista Vindberga – related to the themes of memory and identity. Individual screenings will be introduced by the authors themselves or curator Diana Kněžínková, and each of them will be followed by a short discussion. You can look forward to powerful personal stories as well as reflections on the world we are all part of.

Ieva Balode is an artist, curator and film activist working with analogue photochemical film. In her works, she explores the fragility and uncertainty of analogue film, using it as a metaphor for the human psyche and its sensitivity and elusiveness.

Vika Eksta works with autobiographical narratives and existential themes, as well as research into life in the Latvian countryside. In her long-term projects, she combines documentary approaches with fiction and fabrication.

Krista Vindberga combines static and moving images in her artistic practice. She works across multiple media, including painting, drawing, photography and video. Central themes in her work are memory and time, which is why she frequently engages with photographic archives.

Diāna Tamane works primarily with photography and video, alongside drawing, text, and installation. She finds inspiration in family albums and love letters, in femininity and changing bodies, in women’s stories, and in moments of silence. Diāna explores different notions of home as a place, a person, a body, and a feeling.
